How to evaluate any wellness product — and why Swayu built the most rigorous standard in the industry.
Most wellness brands sell you marketing. Swayu sells you evidence. Every product in our store passes through an 8-pillar evaluation framework that examines everything from ingredient bioavailability to manufacturing practices. Here's why it matters — and how you can use these same pillars to evaluate any brand.
The $150B wellness market is flooded with unregulated products, proprietary blends that hide dosages, "natural" claims without evidence, and influencer marketing replacing clinical trials.
You've seen the ads: 'Ancient Ayurvedic miracle.' 'Clinically proven.' '100% natural.' But what do these actually mean? Often, nothing. A product might contain a great ingredient, but in a dose so small it's therapeutically useless. It might be manufactured in a facility with poor quality control. Or it might be completely wrong for your specific body type and health goals.
We realized that to truly help people heal, we couldn't just recommend products based on marketing. We needed a rigorous, unshakeable standard. Enter the 8 Pillars.
Our comprehensive framework for determining true product quality and efficacy.
"We evaluate ingredient quality, dosage, authenticity, and bioavailability."
Why it matters: The form and dosage of an ingredient often matters more than its mere presence. A product listing ashwagandha means little without knowing the extract type, concentration, and dosage.
"We review the strength of scientific evidence supporting each ingredient."
Why it matters: We distinguish between strong clinical evidence and preliminary findings. We never overstate scientific certainty or make claims beyond what research supports.
"Products should be as safe as they are effective."
Why it matters: Safety is non-negotiable. We look for products that demonstrate commitment to purity through rigorous testing and transparent reporting.
"Quality begins with how a product is made."
Why it matters: Even the finest ingredients can be compromised by poor manufacturing. Consistent quality requires systematic processes.
"Trust begins with openness."
Why it matters: When a manufacturer openly shares their processes, testing, and sourcing, it signals confidence in their product. Missing information does not mean poor quality, but it does lower our confidence.
"The best product depends on the individual."
Why it matters: A five-star product for one person may be wrong for another. Our recommendations consider your unique health profile.
"Health should benefit both people and the planet."
Why it matters: We believe wellness extends beyond the individual. Products that care for the planet align with a deeper understanding of health.
"Value is more than price."
Why it matters: The most expensive product is not always the best, and the cheapest is not always a bargain. We evaluate what you actually receive for what you pay.
Think of a wellness product you currently use. Score it from 1 (Poor) to 10 (Excellent) on each pillar to see how it stacks up.
We identify promising ingredients through scientific literature and deep traditional knowledge.
We gather clinical studies, traditional evidence, and manufacturer documentation.
Each product is rigorously evaluated across all 8 trust pillars.
Products that meet standards are reviewed for long-term consistency and total transparency.
We map the product to individual health goals, body types, and preferences.
Only then does a product appear in your personalized store.
Not every brand shares everything perfectly. When data is missing, our confidence level decreases proportionally. Our transparency score directly reflects what is disclosed versus what is hidden. Missing information is clearly noted on our platform. We never imply a product is unsafe simply because data is unavailable, but we will not give it our highest tier of recommendation. The Swayu Standard demands proof, not just promises.
We use our proprietary 8-Pillar framework. Our team of clinicians and researchers analyze ingredient labels, request third-party testing (COAs) from manufacturers, review clinical literature, and assess the brand's manufacturing certifications and sustainability practices.
1. Ingredient Quality, 2. Scientific Evidence, 3. Safety & Purity, 4. Manufacturing Excellence, 5. Transparency, 6. Clinical Suitability, 7. Sustainability & Ethics, 8. Value & Integrity.
Currently, Swayu acts as an independent evaluator and personalized recommender. We curate the best products from trusted brands. In the future, any Swayu-branded product will be subjected to the exact same rigorous 8-pillar evaluation.
We conduct rolling reviews. If a brand changes their formulation, if new clinical data emerges, or if a manufacturer loses a certification, their score is updated immediately in our system.
Yes. In the Swayu app, every recommended product features a "Trust Score" breakdown detailing exactly how it performed across all 8 pillars.
It depends on the pillar. A failure in Safety & Purity (e.g., heavy metal contamination) is an automatic disqualification. A low score in Sustainability might not disqualify a highly effective product, but it will lower its overall Trust Score.
Once products pass our quality gates, our AI matches them to your specific profile based on your health goals, Ayurvedic dosha, current medications, and biometric data to ensure clinical suitability.
No. While we respect and incorporate traditional Ayurvedic evidence (like classical texts), all products—whether a modern vitamin or a traditional herbal blend—must pass the exact same rigorous standards for safety, purity, and manufacturing.
If a manufacturer refuses to provide testing data or clarify proprietary blends, their Transparency and Quality scores drop significantly. We inform you of what is missing so you can make an educated choice.
Absolutely. You can submit products through the Swayu app, and our research team will add them to our evaluation queue.
